GM-CSF + mAb17-1A is a combination therapy consisting of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a cytokine that stimulates the production and activation of myeloid cells, and mouse monoclonal antibody 17-1A (mAb17-1A, IgG2a), which targets tumor-associated antigens on colorectal carcinoma cells. The rationale for this combination is to enhance the immune-mediated antitumor effects of the monoclonal antibody by increasing effector cell numbers and function through GM-CSF administration. This approach aims to augment antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) against tumor cells. Clinical studies have evaluated this regimen in patients with metastatic or advanced colorectal carcinoma, showing some evidence of clinical activity but also increased risk of allergic reactions due to immunogenicity from the murine antibody component[1][4][5].
