GMSCs + collagen scaffolds is an experimental cell-based therapy developed by Hebei Medical University for the treatment of chronic periodontitis. The therapy consists of Gingiva Mesenchymal Stem Cells (GMSCs), which are multipotent mesenchymal stem cells derived from gingival tissue, seeded onto biocompatible collagen scaffolds. This regenerative medicine approach is designed to be implanted at periodontal defect sites following open flap debridement surgery. The GMSCs possess the capacity for multilineage differentiation and immunomodulation, while the collagen scaffold serves as a carrier material to deliver the cells and provide a structural matrix for tissue growth. The primary goal of the therapy is to promote alveolar bone regeneration and the functional restoration of periodontal tissues in patients with chronic adult periodontitis.
