Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GnRH agonist + recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin is a combination regimen used in assisted reproductive technology (ART) for final oocyte maturation (dual trigger) during in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles. The regimen co-administers a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist (such as triptorelin, leuprolide, or buserelin) and recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin (rhCG, such as choriogonadotropin alfa) to trigger ovulation. The GnRH agonist induces an endogenous surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), mimicking the natural mid-cycle surge, while the rhCG provides sustained LH-like activity. This dual trigger approach is designed to improve oocyte yield, maturation rates, and embryo quality, particularly in patients undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, while potentially reducing the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) compared to high-dose hCG alone.
