Overview

A combination therapy used in assisted reproductive technology that pairs a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist with letrozole, an aromatase inhibitor. The GnRH antagonist prevents premature ovulation by blocking GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland, inhibiting the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Letrozole reduces estrogen production by inhibiting the conversion of androgens to estrogens. This combination is primarily used in fertility treatments for patients with poor ovarian response or at risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
