Overview

This asset refers to a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist program under development by Livzon Pharmaceutical Factory. The drug is designed to treat hormone-sensitive conditions, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and prostate cancer, by competitively binding to GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This action blocks the signaling of endogenous GnRH, leading to a rapid and reversible suppression of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion. Consequently, the production of ovarian estrogens in women and testicular testosterone in men is reduced to castrate levels. Unlike GnRH agonists, antagonists do not cause an initial hormonal surge (flare effect), providing immediate therapeutic benefit. The program includes both small molecule and peptide candidates, potentially including generic versions of established antagonists like relugolix or cetrorelix.
