Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**GNRs@Chit-Iso4** is a preclinical, intravesically administered photoacoustic imaging nanosystem for early detection of bladder cancer. It consists of gold nanorods coated with chitosan and functionalized with the head-to-tail cyclized Iso4 peptide, which selectively binds integrin alpha-5/beta-1 expressed on bladder cancer cells. Following bladder instillation and low-frequency ultrasound-assisted nanoparticle dispersion, the targeted gold nanorods generate photoacoustic contrast that enabled detection of orthotopic bladder lesions smaller than 0.5 mm in murine models.
