Gold nanoparticles + Cornus mas refers to a combination of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that are synthesized or functionalized using bioactive compounds extracted from the fruits of Cornus mas (Cornelian cherry). This "green" nanotechnology leverages the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hypolipidemic properties of Cornus mas polyphenols and enhances their delivery and efficacy through nanoparticle formulation. Studies have shown that these complexes can suppress inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB activity in macrophages, reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-12, decrease lipid peroxidation, lower triglycerides and C-reactive protein levels in serum, and increase antioxidant protection. However, some studies also report potential adverse effects on vascular ultrastructure after prolonged administration. The primary indications explored include psoriasis (topical application), cardiovascular risk factors associated with high-fat diets (oral administration), oxidative stress-related conditions, and possibly cancer therapy due to selective cytotoxicity against dysplastic cells[1][2][6].
