Overview

This combination therapy involves simultaneous administration of golimumab (a TNFα inhibitor) and intra-articular injection of triamcinolone acetonide (a corticosteroid). The combination, sometimes referred to as the K-method, is used particularly in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who are switching biologics. Golimumab works by binding and inhibiting soluble and transmembrane human TNFα, which is associated with chronic inflammation. Triamcinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and suppresses immune responses locally when injected into affected joints. This combination approach has shown significant improvements in disease activity scores with a quick response time compared to golimumab alone.
