This combination therapy, referred to as the **ANTIUI protocol** in clinical research led by **Tanta University**, involves the co-administration of exogenous gonadotropins and the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist **cetrorelix**. Cetrorelix is a synthetic decapeptide that functions as a competitive antagonist of the GnRH receptor in the pituitary gland. By blocking these receptors, it rapidly suppresses the secretion of endogenous luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), thereby preventing premature LH surges and unintended ovulation. The gonadotropin component (such as FSH or HMG) is administered to stimulate the development and maturation of multiple ovarian follicles. This specific regimen is investigated for its potential to improve ovulation and pregnancy rates in patients with unexplained infertility undergoing intrauterine insemination (IUI) by providing enhanced control over the ovulatory cycle.
