Overview

This dendritic cell (DC) vaccine is an autologous cell therapy developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. The vaccine is produced by isolating a patient's own dendritic cells from peripheral blood and pulsing them ex vivo with heat shock protein gp96 (endoplasmin) purified from either placental tissue or the patient's own tumor. Gp96 serves as a chaperone for a broad spectrum of tumor-associated antigens and acts as a potent adjuvant by interacting with receptors such as CD91 on the surface of DCs, promoting their maturation and the cross-presentation of antigens to CD8+ T cells. The resulting activated DC vaccine is re-administered to the patient via subcutaneous or intratumoral injection to stimulate a robust, tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response.
