GPC3-CAR-T cells (Peking University) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target Glypican-3 (GPC3), an oncofetal protein that is highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) but has minimal expression in healthy adult tissues. Developed by researchers at Peking University, the therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes GPC3 on the surface of tumor cells. Upon binding to GPC3, these engineered T cells are activated to proliferate and exert direct cytotoxic effects against the cancer cells. This investigative therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for patients with advanced, GPC3-positive hepatocellular carcinoma who have progressed on or are intolerant to standard first-line systemic treatments.
