GPC3-targeted CAR-T cells (Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being investigated for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Developed by The Affiliated Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School, the therapy utilizes a patient's own T cells that have been genetically engineered to express a CAR specific for Glypican 3 (GPC3). GPC3 is an oncofetal antigen that is highly expressed on the surface of HCC cells but has very limited expression in healthy adult tissues, making it an ideal target for immunotherapy. The treatment involves the infusion of these modified cells, which are designed to recognize GPC3-positive tumor cells and induce a targeted cytotoxic immune response to eliminate the cancer.
