Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gproan combined hepatitis C + E VLP vaccine is a bivalent vaccine candidate being developed by Gproan Biotech for the prevention of Hepatitis C and Hepatitis E infections. The vaccine utilizes virus-like particle (VLP) technology, which involves the assembly of viral proteins into structures that mimic the native virus but lack the viral genome, rendering them non-infectious. These VLPs are engineered to display antigens from both the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and the Hepatitis E virus (HEV). The production process employs a baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) within insect cell lines to ensure proper protein folding and assembly. This combined approach is designed to simplify immunization schedules and provide broad protection against two significant causes of viral hepatitis, particularly in endemic regions.
