SET Technology's granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (human) is a DNA-based gene therapy designed to stimulate a localized and systemic anti-tumor immune response. Developed using the company's Synthetic Expression Technology (SET) platform, the therapy involves the delivery of a DNA plasmid encoding the human GM-CSF protein directly into the tumor environment or via systemic administration. GM-CSF is a potent cytokine that promotes the recruitment, maturation, and activation of dendritic cells and other antigen-presenting cells. By increasing the density of these cells within the tumor microenvironment, the therapy enhances the processing and presentation of tumor-associated antigens to T cells, potentially overcoming immune evasion and stimulating a robust anti-tumor response. The lead program for melanoma is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, while other indications such as sarcoma and breast cancer are in the optimization and preclinical stages.
