Overview

GS-5885 + GS-9451 is an oral investigational combination of two small molecule antivirals developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, specifically genotype 1. GS-5885 (ledipasvir) is an HCV NS5A inhibitor that blocks viral RNA replication and assembly, while GS-9451 is a selective HCV NS3 protease inhibitor that impedes viral protein processing. The combination was evaluated in several phase 2 clinical trials, both alone and with other antivirals such as tegobuvir and ribavirin, to determine its safety, tolerability, and antiviral efficacy in treatment-naive and treatment-experienced patients[2][4].
