Overview
**GS-9451 + peginterferon alfa-2a + ribavirin** is a three-drug combination investigated as antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis C virus infection, principally genotype 1[1][3]. GS-9451 is a novel, reversible, noncovalent, small molecule inhibitor of the HCV nonstructural NS3/4a serine protease, showing potent activity in vitro and in early-phase clinical studies[1][3][5]. Peginterferon alfa-2a is a pegylated recombinant interferon that stimulates antiviral, immunomodulatory effects, and ribavirin is a nucleoside analog antiviral that inhibits viral replication. Combination therapy is intended to both directly inhibit HCV replication and stimulate host immune clearance, with improved sustained virologic response rates versus historic interferon regimens[2][4][6].
