Overview

GSK1322322 + midazolam is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents. GSK1322322 is a first-in-class antibiotic that acts as a potent inhibitor of peptide deformylase, an essential bacterial enzyme required for protein maturation. It has demonstrated activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including multidrug-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae. Developed by GSK, it was investigated primarily for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs) and respiratory tract infections[1][4][5][6]. Midazolam is a well-known benzodiazepine used primarily for its sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant properties; it acts as an agonist at the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor to enhance inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system.
