Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK208141 + non-MPL-containing adjuvant is an investigational recombinant vaccine developed as a candidate immunotherapy for herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. GSK208141 represents a recombinant glycoprotein D (gD)-based HSV vaccine and was tested with a non-MPL-containing adjuvant, meaning the adjuvant does not include monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL), a commonly used immune-stimulatory adjuvant. The vaccine aimed to induce an immune response against HSV in seropositive adults. The adjuvant was designed to enhance immunogenicity without MPL. Clinical trials tested safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity, as well as measured anti-HSV antibody formation and physical signs/symptoms in healthy HSV-positive adults. Development was discontinued after failing primary endpoints in trials.
