Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK2838501A is an investigational protein subunit vaccine developed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) for the prevention of infections caused by Non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi). NTHi is a major bacterial pathogen associated with respiratory tract infections, including otitis media in children and acute exacerbations in adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The vaccine is designed to elicit an immune response against specific NTHi surface antigens. It was evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials (such as NCT01767545) to assess its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy adults, including current and former smokers aged 50-70 years. GSK2838501A was one of several experimental formulations tested within GSK's broader NTHi vaccine development program.
