Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK3052230 + carboplatin + paclitaxel is a combination therapy consisting of a FGF ligand trap (GSK3052230) with standard chemotherapy agents (carboplatin and paclitaxel). GSK3052230 is a soluble fusion protein consisting of the extracellular domain of human FGFR1c linked to the Fc portion of human IgG1, which acts as a ligand trap for fibroblast growth factors (FGFs). This combination was studied for the treatment of FGFR1 gene-amplified metastatic squamous non-small cell lung cancer. The mechanism involves sequestering FGFs to block their ability to activate FGF receptors, while avoiding toxicities associated with small molecule FGFR inhibitors.
