**GSK3277511A** is an investigational, AS01E-adjuvanted protein-subunit vaccine developed by GSK to prevent acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is designed to induce immune responses against conserved surface proteins from non-typeable *Haemophilus influenzae* and *Moraxella catarrhalis*, bacterial pathogens associated with COPD exacerbations. The selected clinical formulation contained 10 micrograms each of NTHi protein D and PE-PilA, plus 3.3 micrograms of *M. catarrhalis* UspA2, adjuvanted with AS01E and administered intramuscularly. In a phase 2b COPD efficacy study, the vaccine did not demonstrate efficacy for reducing the annual rate of moderate or severe exacerbations, although the clinical program reported no major vaccine-related safety concerns.
