Overview

GTU-MultiHIV B-clade + MVA HIV-B is a combination therapeutic vaccine regimen designed as a prime-boost strategy for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. The regimen consists of a DNA vaccine prime (GTU-MultiHIV B-clade) and a Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) viral vector boost (MVA HIV-B). The GTU-MultiHIV B-clade component, developed by FIT Biotech, utilizes a non-replicating expression vector to deliver a synthetic fusion protein comprising multiple HIV-1 antigens (Rev, Nef, Tat, p17/p24, and various CTL epitopes). The MVA HIV-B component expresses Gag, Pol, and Nef proteins from the HIV-1 LAI strain. This strategy aims to induce robust cellular immune responses to control viral replication and is being investigated as a potential functional cure approach, particularly for maintaining viral suppression after antiretroviral therapy (ART) interruption.
