Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gu'anzhu (固安殊) is a traditional herbal medicine formulation developed by Kitanihon Pharmaceutical in collaboration with the Jiusheng Yuan TCM Research Institute Beijing. It is designed to treat degenerative bone diseases, including osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. The formulation is a botanical extract derived from traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine principles, utilizing AI-based herb evaluation technology developed by the team of Academician Cheng Jing. Originally developed as a powder (13g/dose), it has been upgraded to a tablet form (1.2g/dose) for improved patient compliance. In Japan, it is classified as a functional food (機能性表示食品). Clinical development includes a completed Phase 1 randomized controlled trial and an ongoing large-scale real-world study targeting 1,500 cases.
