Overview

Guanosine‐2',3'‐O‐ethylidenephosphonate is a synthetic small molecule analog of guanosine in which the ribose moiety is protected at the 2' and 3' positions by an ethylidene group and a phosphonate group replaces the natural phosphate linkage. It acts as an inhibitor of purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP), an enzyme involved in purine metabolism. This compound has been studied primarily as a biochemical probe or experimental tool for investigating PNP function and nucleotide metabolism but has not advanced to clinical development or approval for any therapeutic indication[1][2][7].
