guazuma ulmifolia + tecoma stans

This is an investigational botanical mixture combining extracts from the bark of *Guazuma ulmifolia* and the leaves/flowers of *Tecoma stans*. Developed by the Centro Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, it is being evaluated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The mixture, often referred to in the context of the GUATECO clinical trial, is administered orally as a 400 mg capsule containing 313.6 mg of *Guazuma ulmifolia* and 86.4 mg of *Tecoma stans*. Its mechanism of action involves the stimulation of glucose uptake in adipocytes and the inhibition of the alpha-glucosidase enzyme, which helps in reducing postprandial glucose levels. Clinical studies have demonstrated its potential to improve glycemic control, evidenced by significant reductions in fasting glucose, HbA1c, and waist circumference in patients with type 2 diabetes.
