Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a **combination vaccine formulation** consisting of a plant-derived **virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine presenting the hemagglutinin (HA) protein of the H5N1 influenza virus** and the **adjuvant alhydrogel** (aluminum hydroxide)[3][5][7]. The H5 VLP component is intended to elicit an immune response against H5N1 influenza, and the alhydrogel increases vaccine immunogenicity by promoting stronger antigen presentation and stimulating humoral (antibody-mediated) and cellular immune responses. It is primarily developed as a pandemic/pre-pandemic H5N1 avian influenza vaccine. Plant-derived VLP vaccines mimic the structure of the native virus but are non-infectious, and alhydrogel is a widely used adjuvant to enhance the immunogenicity of subunit and VLP vaccines[5][10].
