Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination vaccine product comprising an **H7N9 Influenza A subunit vaccine** and **QS21**, a purified saponin adjuvant derived from the Quillaja saponaria tree. The vaccine is intended to generate immunity against the H7N9 subtype of influenza A virus. QS21 enhances both humoral and cellular immune responses by promoting antigen uptake and presentation, with evidence for activation of Th1 and Th2 immune pathways and involvement in inflammasome activation. The adjuvant component improves immunogenicity and can allow for dose sparing, particularly with poorly immunogenic vaccines. In this formulation, the vaccine is being evaluated using a microarray patch delivery system as well as by intramuscular injection.
