Haemagglutinin-strain A(H1N1) is the hemagglutinin protein derived from the influenza A virus subtype H1N1. It is used as an active component in various inactivated influenza vaccines. Hemagglutinin (HA) is a surface glycoprotein of the influenza virus responsible for binding to host cell receptors containing sialic acid and mediating fusion between viral and endosomal membranes during infection initiation. The HA protein is highly immunogenic and serves as the primary antigen targeted by neutralizing antibodies following vaccination or natural infection. Vaccines containing this antigen are indicated for prevention of influenza caused by H1N1 strains[3][4][5][8]. The mechanism of action involves induction of an immune response against HA to prevent viral entry into host cells.
