Overview

MT-2301 + DPT-IPV refers to the co-administration or combination of Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma's Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate vaccine candidate (MT-2301) with a combined Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis, and Inactivated Poliovirus (DPT-IPV) vaccine. This pentavalent immunization regimen is designed to provide comprehensive protection against five major childhood infectious diseases. MT-2301 consists of the Hib capsular polysaccharide (polyribosylribitol phosphate, PRP) conjugated to a carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity in infants. The DPT-IPV component provides protection against the toxins of *Corynebacterium diphtheriae* and *Clostridium tetani*, the bacteria *Bordetella pertussis*, and the three types of poliovirus. The combination was evaluated in Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials in Japan to assess its safety and immunogenicity compared to established Hib vaccines like ActHIB when given alongside DPT-IPV. This development eventually led to the approval of a single 5-in-1 combination vaccine (Gohybik) in Japan.
