Overview

A combination of haloperidol, a high-potency first-generation antipsychotic, and ketamine, an NMDA receptor antagonist with dissociative anesthetic properties. This combination is used for managing acute agitation, delirium, and pain in emergency settings. Haloperidol works primarily through dopamine D2 receptor antagonism, while ketamine blocks NMDA receptors. The combination provides rapid sedation with complementary effects - haloperidol can reduce some cognitive impairments produced by ketamine while maintaining effective sedation.
