Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hamamelis distillate + urea is a topical combination product used primarily for dermatological conditions, especially in the maintenance and relief of dermatitis, minor skin lesions, and mild inflammation of the skin and mucosa. Hamamelis distillate (witch hazel water) is derived from the steam distillation of Hamamelis virginiana leaves and branches. It acts as an astringent with anti-inflammatory, soothing, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. Urea serves as a keratolytic agent that hydrates the stratum corneum by increasing water retention in the skin and improving barrier function. The combination leverages both anti-inflammatory effects (from hamamelis) and hydrating/barrier-stabilizing effects (from urea), making it suitable for managing irritated or inflamed skin[3]. This formulation is typically applied several times daily to affected areas.
