Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HDV-insulin lispro is a hepatocyte-targeted formulation of insulin lispro developed by Diasome Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The therapy utilizes Diasome's proprietary Hepatocyte Directed Vesicle (HDV) technology, which consists of small phospholipid vesicles (liposomes) containing a targeting molecule that directs the insulin to the liver's portal-hepatic axis. This mechanism is designed to mimic the natural physiological delivery of insulin to the liver, thereby restoring hepatic glucose metabolism and potentially reducing the risk of peripheral hypoglycemia compared to standard subcutaneous insulin. The formulation is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2b OPTI-2 clinical trial to assess its efficacy in mealtime glucose control.
