Drug intelligence / Profile preview
He Ji Gong Pain & Fever Relief Powder (何濟公止痛退熱散) is a traditional over-the-counter (OTC) analgesic and antipyretic medication developed by the Hong Kong-based company He Ji Gong (also known as Ho Chai Kung). The product is formulated as a combination of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), paracetamol (acetaminophen), and caffeine. It is widely used in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia for the rapid relief of symptoms associated with the common cold and influenza, including fever, headache, and muscular aches. Aspirin and paracetamol work synergistically to reduce pain and fever by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby decreasing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Caffeine acts as an analgesic adjuvant, enhancing the efficacy of the pain-relieving components and helping to alleviate fatigue. The medication is typically administered orally as a powder, often packaged in individual sachets.
