Overview

This combination therapy involves the co-infusion of bone marrow-derived hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and insulin-secreting cells (ISC) trans-differentiated from autologous adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSC). The approach is designed to treat insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) by leveraging the immunomodulatory properties of HSCs to address autoimmunity while providing a functional source of insulin-producing cells derived from the patient's own fat tissue. The therapy is typically administered under non-myeloablative conditioning to facilitate cell engraftment and has shown potential in clinical case studies for improving glycemic control and reducing exogenous insulin requirements.
