Overview

This is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs, henagliflozin and finerenone, intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with or without chronic kidney disease (CKD). Henagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor developed in China, which lowers blood glucose by inhibiting renal glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion. Finerenone is a non-steroidal selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist that reduces inflammation and fibrosis in the kidneys and heart by blocking mineralocorticoid receptor signaling. The combination targets both glycemic control and cardiorenal protection, especially in patients with T2DM complicated by CKD. Clinical evidence supports additive benefits on albuminuria reduction when SGLT2 inhibitors are combined with finerenone[4][8].
