Hepadvax is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd for the prevention of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The vaccine is composed of a triple-antigen recombinant HBV surface protein—incorporating the S, preS1, and preS2 domains—formulated with Advax-1, a proprietary adjuvant derived from delta-inulin. By including the preS1 and preS2 regions, which are critical for viral attachment to hepatocytes, Hepadvax aims to elicit a broader and more potent immune response than conventional single-antigen (S) vaccines. The Advax-1 adjuvant further enhances both humoral and cellular immunity, potentially improving seroconversion rates in populations that typically respond poorly to standard HBV vaccination, such as the elderly or those with chronic diseases. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical testing.
