heparin + tirofiban

Heparin + tirofiban is a combination therapy used primarily in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), particularly in patients with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). Tirofiban (brand name Aggrastat) is a non-peptide antagonist of the platelet glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa receptor that inhibits platelet aggregation. Heparin acts as an anticoagulant. When used in combination, they complementarily reduce the rate of thrombotic cardiovascular events. Clinical trials like PRISM-PLUS demonstrated significant risk reduction (e.g., 32% reduction in the combined endpoint of death, myocardial infarction, or refractory ischemic conditions compared to heparin alone).
