Hepatitis A vaccine (live attenuated, Sinovac)

The attenuated live Hepatitis A vaccine (HAV) is a viral vaccine developed or evaluated by Sinovac Biotech for the prevention of infection caused by the Hepatitis A virus. This formulation contains a live, weakened strain of the virus (typically the H2 strain) that induces long-term immunity by mimicking a natural infection without causing disease. It is primarily used in pediatric populations, often administered as a single-dose regimen in China's immunization programs. Clinical studies, including Phase IV follow-up trials, have evaluated its long-term immune persistence (up to five years or more) and safety compared to inactivated alternatives like Sinovac's Healive. The vaccine is typically formulated as a 1.0 ml injection containing a specific viral titer (e.g., 6.50 lgCCID50) and stimulates both humoral and cellular immune responses.
