Overview

Hepatitis B surface antigen + ADVAX-3 is an investigational recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by Vaxine for the prevention and potential treatment of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The vaccine combines recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) with Vaxine's proprietary ADVAX-3 adjuvant system. ADVAX-3 is a combination adjuvant consisting of delta inulin (Advax), a unique polysaccharide that enhances immune responses without significant inflammation, and a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist, typically a CpG oligonucleotide. This combination is designed to induce potent, long-lasting humoral and Th1-biased cellular immunity, addressing the limitations of traditional alum-adjuvanted HBV vaccines, particularly in non-responders or for therapeutic applications in chronic HBV. The candidate has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity.
