Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination vaccine formulation containing recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) as the immunogen, with monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) and aluminum salts as adjuvants. MPL is a detoxified derivative of lipopolysaccharide from bacterial cell walls that stimulates innate immunity, while aluminum salts enhance the immune response by promoting antigen uptake and presentation. This adjuvant system has been shown to increase both humoral and cellular immune responses compared to traditional alum-only vaccines, leading to more rapid and robust protection against hepatitis B infection. The combination has demonstrated safety, tolerability, and enhanced immunogenicity in clinical studies[4][7]. The primary indication is prevention of hepatitis B virus infection.
