Drug intelligence / Profile preview
hepatitis C virus E1E2 + QS-21 + 3D-(6-acyl) PHAD is a preclinical-stage vaccine candidate being developed by the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Maryland for the prevention of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The vaccine is formulated as a microneedle patch (MNP) containing a novel native-like secreted form of the HCV E1E2 envelope glycoprotein heterodimer (sE1E2) as the immunogen, combined with a well-established combinatorial adjuvant system consisting of the saponin QS-21 and the synthetic monophosphoryl lipid A derivative 3D-(6-acyl) PHAD (phosphorylated hexa-acyl disaccharide). Delivered via skin-migratory dendritic cells, this thermostable formulation is designed to elicit robust, Th1-skewed humoral and cellular polyfunctional T-cell immune responses, including neutralizing antibodies, without systemic or local reactogenicity.
