Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Heptex is a herbal medicinal product developed by Natural Wellness, consisting of a standardized combination of powdered extracts from the aerial parts of *Phyllanthus niruri* (Dukung Anak) and the fruits of *Silybum marianum* (Milk Thistle). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The drug exerts its effects through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective mechanisms, including the inhibition of lipid peroxidation and the modulation of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha. Clinical evaluation in a Phase II trial (NCT05343780) demonstrated that Heptex is safe and well-tolerated, showing significant reductions in liver enzymes like ALT and AST in patients at risk for NASH.
