HER2 peptide vaccine (Technical University of Munich)

The HER2 peptide vaccine (Technical University of Munich) is an experimental cancer immunotherapy designed to treat solid tumors, specifically breast and gastric cancers, that exhibit moderate (1+ or 2+) expression of the HER2/neu protein. Developed by researchers at the Technical University of Munich, the vaccine utilizes HER2-derived peptides to prime the immune system to recognize and destroy HER2-positive malignant cells. In clinical trial protocols (such as NCT01734720), the vaccine is administered as part of a multi-component regimen that includes low-dose cyclophosphamide to inhibit regulatory T cells, sargramostim (GM-CSF) to stimulate dendritic cell maturation, and topical imiquimod (a TLR7 agonist) to enhance the local inflammatory environment and immune recruitment at the injection site.
