Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This intervention is an investigational combination therapy consisting of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal concentrate granules administered alongside conventional Western medical treatment. Developed and evaluated in a multi-center randomized controlled trial led by Beijing YouAn Hospital (Capital Medical University), the regimen is specifically designed for children aged 1 to 13 suffering from severe hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). The TCM component, which focuses on heat-clearing and detoxifying properties, is administered via enema to enhance absorption in pediatric patients. Clinical study results indicate that the addition of these TCM granules to standard Western therapy significantly reduces the time to fever clearance in patients with severe HFMD compared to Western therapy alone.
