Overview
Hetrombopag + placebo refers to a combination used in clinical trials where one group receives hetrombopag and the other receives a matching placebo for comparison. Hetrombopag is an orally bioavailable, non-peptide small-molecule thrombopoietin receptor (TPOR/MPL) agonist developed primarily for the treatment of thrombocytopenia and severe aplastic anemia. It stimulates proliferation and differentiation of human TPOR-expressing cells by activating downstream signaling pathways such as STAT, PI3K, and ERK. Hetrombopag has demonstrated efficacy in increasing platelet counts and improving hematologic response rates in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and severe aplastic anemia (SAA). The addition of a placebo arm allows assessment of efficacy and safety relative to no active drug[2][3][6].
