Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Developed by Suzhou Juwei Biological Technology (Juwei Bio), this hexavalent Group B Streptococcus (GBS) conjugate vaccine is designed to prevent invasive GBS infections, which are a leading cause of neonatal sepsis, meningitis, and pneumonia. The vaccine utilizes a polysaccharide conjugate modality, where capsular polysaccharides from six common GBS serotypes (typically Ia, Ib, II, III, IV, and V) are chemically linked to a carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity and induce a T-cell dependent immune response. This approach is intended to provide broad protection against the majority of disease-causing GBS strains globally. The candidate is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, primarily targeting maternal immunization to protect infants through transplacental antibody transfer.
