Overview

HGS1036 + cisplatin + etoposide is an investigational combination therapy for advanced solid malignancies. HGS1036 (also known as FP-1039) is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) antagonist, functioning as an FGF ligand trap to inhibit FGFR signaling. Inhibition of FGFR1 may retard tumor cell proliferation and induce tumor cell death[1][6]. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that induces DNA strand breaks and prevents cancer cell replication. This combination was studied in phase 1b clinical trials to evaluate safety and tolerability in patients with advanced solid tumors[2][3][4][10].
