Overview
Hib + MenAC (Hib-MenAC) is an investigational conjugate vaccine developed by GSK Biologicals. It is a trivalent combination containing capsular polysaccharides from *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) and *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C, each conjugated to a carrier protein (typically tetanus toxoid). The vaccine was specifically designed for extemporaneous mixing with GSK's DTPw-HBV vaccine (Tritanrix-HepB) to create a heptavalent (7-in-1) pediatric vaccine. This combination aimed to simplify immunization schedules in developing regions by protecting against Hib, meningococcal A and C, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and hepatitis B in a single intramuscular injection. While it demonstrated immunogenicity and safety in Phase II clinical trials in infants, the formulation did not proceed to commercial approval and remained an investigational compound.
