Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ThermoDox combined with MRI-guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MR-HIFU) is an investigational combination therapy developed by Imunon (formerly Celsion Corporation) for the treatment of painful bone metastases. ThermoDox is a heat-activated liposomal formulation of doxorubicin (lyso-thermosensitive liposomal doxorubicin). The system utilizes MR-HIFU to provide precise, non-invasive heating (39.5-42°C) of targeted bone lesions, which triggers the rapid release of high concentrations of doxorubicin directly at the tumor site. This approach aims to provide effective pain palliation while minimizing systemic toxicity for patients with bone metastases from breast, lung, or prostate cancer who have failed or are ineligible for radiation therapy.
