Overview

HIV glycoprotein gp140 + LTK63 is a combination investigational prophylactic vaccine candidate designed to induce an immune response against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The vaccine consists of the recombinant trimeric ectodomain of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (gp140), which mimics the native structure of viral spikes and serves as an immunogen to elicit neutralizing antibodies. Gp140 includes both surface (gp120) and transmembrane (gp41) subunits, engineered for stability and antigenicity. The formulation is adjuvanted with LTK63, a genetically detoxified mutant of Escherichia coli heat-labile enterotoxin B subunit, used as a mucosal adjuvant to enhance immune responses. This combination was developed primarily for prevention of HIV infection through stimulation of humoral immunity but has not demonstrated sufficient efficacy in clinical trials[1][2][4].
